The ever-mysterious beings behind the Exodian Organisation. No one quite knows what they are or how many of them are there. The only thing known is that they have the Multiverse’s best interests at heart, and that they are most likely omniscient, but unable to act on their own in most cases, hence relying on the Agents for help.
This does not mean they are entirely helpless. There are stories from personnel of extraordinary circumstances leading an Observer to directly intervene, although this usually manifests in the form of a boost or empowerment.
The multiverse is a massive place, and interacting with it often makes for varied experiences. For the most part, the Organisation operates on the idea that they avoid too much notice. For this, various tactics like disguises, glamours, and cover stories are often employed in target universes. Still, some universes are fully aware of the Exodian Organisation and may employ them to resolve issues they cannot fix by themselves, and other universes often cross with other realms, allowing the Exodian Organisation to act overtly without attracting much attention, although revealing certain details may still not be permitted.
The Remnants are dark, twisted objects kept in incredibly secure safes in the Exodian Headquarters, and are occasionally found in certain universes. The Observers take these Remnants very seriously, and any Mission involving a Remnant is often a dangerous one.
Not much is known about the Remnants nor their origins, but some Agents whisper that they can bring great gifts to those daring to use them. Most stories involving those attempted wielders have ended in horror, leaving this speculation very doubtful.
Free from the trappings of conventional time or weather, the Exodian Headquarters offers its own equivalent to what most may consider weather: the Modus, a peculiar setting that adjusts the Headquarters’ overall mood and some of its traits, as well as creating what would be best explained as temporary locations that rely on a certain Modus to remain open. A Modus may be close to mundane, or utterly alien, depending on one's viewpoint.
Think the Internet, but with a multiversal-level reach, yet only accessible to the Exodian personnel. That’s what the Weave is: a massive database compiling the baseline information of multiverses. It can be used for researching that weird material you’ve found during a Mission, or to look up potential blueprints for this fancy new thing you want built, or to sit back and chat while watching a nice little video. The potential is almost endless.
More importantly, the Weave also acts as an Agent’s own database, keeping track of things such as their Credits, Missions fulfilled or failed, and providing optional logs that they can choose to fill in.
Not all members of the Exodian Organisation are Agents, or the mysterious Observers. A relatively small number of people are titled as Exodian Handlers, and they help manage the day-to-day activities of the Organisation that aren’t Missions, from maintenance, to providing intel and tips, among others. While not Agents, they’re still valuable members, and they sometimes help manage some activities by acting as Mission Control. Some of them also help manage the cafeteria and the medbay, or serve as researchers, among other activities.
Of note is the fact that Agents can manage Handler duties if they wish, but Handlers are the personnel who have opted to stay out of direct involvement in Missions, for the most part. It is generally acknowledged that being a Handler is more of an informal title than an official one, but it is accepted throughout the community.
General tasks for Exodian Personnel to work on and fulfill to support the Organisation, with Credits and other items rewarded for successful tasks. These Logs are often visible throughout the Headquarters with the task and location listed in a form akin to bulletin boards, which are most prominent in the Common Space and the Personal Quarters, although the entire Headquarters has them available for all personnel to look at if they ever wish to lend a hand.
The Log is adaptive, and tasks may change at any moment. Moreover, there are often special requests to match the current Modus, or, more rarely, that of a Special Modus. These rare logs may offer greater rewards for those willing to undertake them.
State-of-the-art Exodian technology that combines both manufacturing and modifying properties in one, and available in various sizes in the Headquarters. Incredibly customisable, and with a vast array of settings that may be configured according to what one needs.
The Manufacturing Stations are capable of using presented blueprints and materials to craft items and tools, as well as enhancing target objects provided that there are compatible enhancement materials provided. Moreover, they are capable of improving materials themselves, often using the low-grade materials, as well as a catalyst material to manufacture a higher-grade version of the item.
Credits are the Exodian Organisation’s internal currency, meant to reward the personnel who have done their work well, and utilised to buy and trade things via the Market, which is where personnel sell and offer various items, mods, and upgrades for Agents to use in Missions.
What can Credits buy you? Often, it allows one to obtain permanent upgrades and mods to their gear and Crafts, or perhaps the occasional bragging rights trophy. With basic necessities covered by the Organisation itself, most personnel instead take to increasing their efficiency and skill, or buying luxury items that denote their status.
